Fortnite x Nintendo Switch Special Edition Character Illustrations
Silly characters into simple, but still silly, headshots.
Building off a line-art style I’d previously done for a Holiday Sale campaign on the Epic Games Store, the Fortnite team asked that I create a series of 12 character illustrations that would eventually be part of a special edition Nintendo Switch!
When creating the character illustrations, I knew it was important to keep it simple but recognizable. While the final versions were tweaked by the Epic team before they went into production, you can see my original design direction and illustrations shining through.

Getting Started
To get started I was given a simple list of character names, no sample images were provided. This made it important to source a variety of angles or the characters to make sure I wasn’t missing any elements that would effect their recognizability.
From there, I jumped into digital sketches using Procreate for the initial shapes and details before transitioning to Illustrator for the vector line work.
